Roundtable on institutionalization of Central Asian Harm Reduction Resource and Training Center to take place in Bishkek.

The roundtable meeting on institutionalization of the Central Asian harm reduction resource and training center will be held by initiative of Central Asia AIDS Control Project (CAAP) in Bishkek on March 14.It is expected that the heads of the Republican AIDS Centers and AIDS-service organizations of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Ministry of Interior, penitentiary system of the ministry of justice and state health institutions of the Kyrgyz Republic where harm reduction programs are being implemented will take part at the roundtable meeting.The World Bank, CARHAP/DFID, Capacity Project/USAID, UNODC, AFEW, UNDP, Soros Foundation - Kyrgyzstan, UNIFEM and Eurasian Harm Reduction Network (EHRN) have already expressed their interest to participate in the meeting. The participants of the meeting will make an overview of harm reduction programs implementation in Central Asia; will get acquainted with the results of the First Asian Consultation on prevention of HIV related to drug use held in Goa, India, in January 2008 and Central Asia AIDS Control Project initiatives on developing of harm reduction programs.The issue of collaboration with the Eurasian Harm Reduction Network on development the Central Asian harm reduction resource and training center is also included in the round table meeting agenda.
