Roper Industries Acquires Struers.

Bogart, GA 7/30/01--Roper Industries has acquired Struers Holding A/S, comprised of Struers A/S and Logitech, for approximately $139 million net of debt. Struers A/G manufactures materialographic preparation equipment and consumables, including hardness testers for quality inspection, solid materials research, and failure analysis. It has revenues of around $60 million. Logitech makes precision sawing, lapping and polishing equipment for high specification surface finishes, such as the semiconductor and opto-electronics industries. The two companies will be integrated into Roper's Analytical Instrumentation segment. For its fiscal third quarter ending July 31, 2001, Roper's Analytical Instrumentation segment posted pro forma revenue increases of 11%-13%.

Roper continues to diversify its list of businesses with this latest acquisition, its third this year. In 2000, the company made nine acquisitions, including Antek Instruments and Oxford Instruments' electron microscopy assets. The company is targeting higher growth markets, higher margins and diversification with its acquisition strategy.
