Rope tensioner for aero-mechanical conveyors.

An integral automatic rope tensioning, monitoring and adjustment system for aero-mechanical conveyors (AMC) is said to increase rope life and reduce maintenance time.

The patented AMC Auto Tensioner automatically measures and adjusts rope tension and indicates when the rope is worn and needs to be replaced. As a result, rope life is said to be increased by up to 40%, due to continuous monitoring, according to the company.

Time and labor costs are also said to be significantly reduced, since operations are checked automatically instead of manually, downtime for maintenance is reduced and productivity is increased.

For high altitude applications, automatic monitoring is said to eliminate the need to use scaffolding or long ladders to check tensioning and rope wear.

This improved automatic tensioning system applies a constant pre-load to the conveyor's rope and disc assembly. This is said to compensate for the natural change in rope length while the conveyor is operating.

A pneumatic actuator is anchored at one end of the conveyor and applies a linear force to the free moving return sprocket housing. The housing is mounted on two linear bearings with o-ring seals.
