Rooney rap is dropped.

A STUDENT who claimed he was attacked in a bar by football star Wayne Rooney yesterday dropped his complaint.

Patrick Hanrahan, 22, told cops he wished to retract his statement and not pursue any charges.

But his action may not be the last he has heard of the case - England and Manchester United star Rooney now plans to sue him.

The player's legal team will meet today to discuss bringing a civil action against him for creating a malicious falsehood.

Rooney was left furious over Hanrahan's claims that the student was punched in the head three times during an incident in a Manchester city centre bar.
