Accepting the award, Roman said, "I consider myself not Man of the Year, but the Luckiest Man of the Year.
"Success in business has to do with good fortune, and I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by the right people, This gives me better odds and helps me make the right decisions in getting the work and performing the work, WDF has the right people."
Roman said he was glad to have the opportunity to speak about "the need for infrastructure projects in the State" to National Leadership Award honoree Peter King, U.S. Congressman and chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, and King's presenter and 2009 Man of the Year, NYS Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos.
Rabbi Mordecai Kamenetzky, the Yeshiva's original founder in 1956, presented the Man of the Year award, saying that Roman "represents the leadership and generosity that it takes to rebuild this great city. His work ethic and innovation is a model for our students who are entering a new era of elementary school education with engineering, science and technology incorporated into the core curriculum."
The Yeshiva's annual fundraiser, the Banquet raised close to $400,000 for the South Shore Yeshiva.
