Rolls-Royce in the hot seat.

More than 1,700 Rolls-Royce and Bentley cars are to be recalled worldwide as some owners have been left a little hot under the collar by their luxury motors.

A fault with the heating system which warms the seats has led to the move.

They have decided to recall 1,725 of the pounds 155,000 Silver Seraph and pounds 145,000 Bentley Arnage models for checks on the thermostat.

Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motors are contacting owners of these cars, which were launched in spring last year.

"In four instances we have had reports of the seats overheating, but nobody has been hurt," said a spokesman.

"But because there is the possibility of somebody being hurt we have done a recall, which relates to 1,725 models worldwide.

He added that the recall operation is expected to cost the company about pounds 300,000.
