Rok solid after strong results.

TEESSIDE builder Rok has bucked the trend of a poor-performing construction industry by announcing strong interim results today.

For the six months to 30 June 2008, pre-tax profit was up by 22% to pounds 12.4m, while revenues swelled to pounds 546.7m - a 37% rise on the same period last year.

Strong growth in the group's core new build, repairs and maintenance activities had more than offset the decline in commercial property revenues, which fell by 58% to pounds 14.7m.

Managing director for Rok's North-east and East Midlands operations, Mitchell Smith, said the growth of the Teeside business was "in line" with the group's and had been driven by work in the residential and social housing sectors.
