Rogue Wave's StudioJ Wins Industry's Best Bean Library in Java Pro Magazine's Java Technology Awards.

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 2, 1999--

Rogue Wave Software today announced that StudioJ, its one-stop solution for GUI development, data analysis, charting and database access, was awarded the Best Bean Library in Java Pro magazine's first ever Java Technology Awards. Rogue Wave's StudioJ captured the award based on a survey of Java Pro readers.

"This award gave our readers the opportunity to give kudos to those solutions that work for them, and to honor those individuals and groups who have helped Java grow and flourish," said Java Pro Editor-in-Chief Tyler Sperry, in announcing the award at the recent JavaOne show in San Francisco, Calif. "We are pleased to be able to announce Rogue Wave as one of the winners."

The Java Pro Readers' Choice Award winners were chosen based on a survey of Java Pro readers conducted by Wilson Research Group. There were 19 categories in all, divided into best applications, JVMs, utilities design/coding tools, "off the shelf" tools, and libraries.

"We are always looking for validation from our customers on product performance and features, and nothing pleases us more than when we are selected to receive an award by the people who actually use our products," said Gillian Webster, vice president of marketing for Rogue Wave Software. "Java Pro readers are also developers, and they understand that StudioJ allows them to easily add powerful capabilities to their Java applications and save time that they otherwise would spend hand coding. We can think of no better honor than to be recognized by those who truly understand the value that StudioJ brings to a development project."

The StudioJ suite integrates four libraries of pure Java components and classes from Rogue Wave software: Blend.J, Grid.J, Chart.J, and DBTools.J. Blend.J allows developers to add features such as tab sheets, tree controls, masked edits, and spinners, and delivers more than 45 JavaBeans components for Java developers. Grid.J allows developers to turn a grid into a fully functioning spreadsheet with features such as automatic reference updates and circular dependency checks.

Chart.J is a chart building tool that allows developers to mix and match any combination of overlays to create composite chart types. Finally, DBTools.J allows developers to obtain sophisticated database access and manipulation capabilities from an intuitive object-oriented API. StudioJ provides integration support among the four libraries for seamless interoperability, giving developers options such as tying a grid to a database and then feeding the data into a chart within the grid. This integration support is available only in the StudioJ suite.
