A thief at London's Gatwick Airport, UK got more than he bargained for on Wednesday (15 August) when he attempted to steal a bag from former boxing champion, Nigel Benn.

Benn was apparently chatting with airport staff in Gatwick's south terminal after arriving from Barbados, when the thief swiped one of his bags off a luggage trolley. Benn saw the man and chased him through the terminal, successfully apprehending him and making a citizen's arrest. Benn, who did not injure the would-be-thief, apparently sat on him until police arrived, PA News reported.

Onlookers took the opportunity to ask for autographs. The former WBO Middleweight and WBC Super Middleweight champion said later of the incident, "I am so surprised that anyone would have the guts to do this. They obviously did not know who I am and did not see my name on the name tags."
