Rodel and Solution Technology Announce Asset Sale to EMINESS Technologies.

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 2001

Rodel, Inc., an innovator of integrated materials for the microelectronics industry, and its wholly owned subsidiary, Solution Technology, Inc. (STI), today announced the sale of certain assets held by both companies to EMINESS Technologies Inc. The transaction is the first phase of a plan for Rodel and STI to strengthen service and support capabilities for small quantity sales of their products. In the second phase of the plan, to be implemented in the second quarter of 2001, EMINESS Technologies will act as an exclusive distributor for Rodel's full line of products to customers who require small quantity orders in the semiconductor, silicon wafer and storage media substrates industries.

EMINESS Technologies is a newly formed corporation headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., with manufacturing operations in Monroe, N.C. Its management team is comprised of former personnel from Rodel and STI. Scott Loncki, a 14-year industry veteran and former vice president of Rodel's CMP Division, serves as president of EMINESS Technologies.

"Scott's experience at Rodel uniquely qualifies him to establish and operate EMINESS Technologies in close philosophy with Rodel and STI," said Dan Koharko, vice president and general manager of Rodel's Substrates/Storage/Optoelectronics business unit. "This new venture will help us to better serve our customers around the world."

EMINESS Technologies' mission is to improve the experience of entrepreneurial customers in these industries who require customized interaction, service and support. It is organized to work closely with Rodel and ensure rapid response to critical issues surrounding customers' process set-up, process migration and technology development. In addition, the company is planning to add e-commerce capabilities to simplify the procurement process, track orders and provide technical information. EMINESS Technologies will become the one-stop source for a full line of slurries, Rodel pads, as well as technical support services for all of its customers' polishing needs. It will also continue STI's role of manufacturing and developing slurries for the optical and specialty polishing markets.

"As Rodel continues to expand, this is the next step to ensure that the company retains its market leadership while meeting customer demand. EMINESS Technologies will act as a highly specialized manufacturing and customer support center for Rodel's specialized customers that require small quantity orders," commented Loncki. "I look forward to leading its growth and believe this will be an extremely successful venture."
