Rocky Brandt bounces back; GOLF.
A LUCKY bounce helped Brandt Snedeker to an opening 68 in the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Starting on the 10th at Bay Hill, Snedeker was three-under par when his approach to the 18th twice bounced off rocks on a water hazard's edge and on to the green.
But he couldn't convert his birdie putt and picked up a shot on the fourth, recovering from a bogey on the seventh with a birdie on the next.
That left the American on four under alongside playing partners Henrik Stenson and Billy Horschel, one shot behind joint early clubhouse leaders Jason Kokrak, Ken Duke and Kevin Na.
Snedeker said: "I've seen some crazy bounces there before but none like that. That's probably why I'm so upset.
"I got the hard part. over with, hit the rocks to five feet under the hole, straight up the hill - hit a terrible putt and missed it."
STRONG winds yesterday delayed the Madeira Islands Open - with no play at Santo da Serra. The tournament, now reduced to 54 holes, is due to start today with the cut following 36 holes.
