Rockstar North increase office take-up.

EDUNBURGH-based games developer Rockstar North's planned move into the current offices of the Scotsman newspaper saw office take-up in the capital surpass the five-year quarterly average by more than 50 per cent in Q1 of 2014.

The developer of the Grand Theft Auto video games has agreed terms for 75,000 sq. ft at Barclay House in Edinburgh in a deal which was in the top five city centre deals agreed in the first quarter of 2014.

Property agents GVA James Barr's survey said the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority's take up of 30,000 sq ft at Alexander Bain House in Glasgow was the largest office deal for the city in the first quarter.

The deal marks the first government department to relocate to Glasgow since the downturn, which GVA described as a"major coup" for the city's International Financial Services District.

Glasgow was also strong in out-of-town take-up in Q1, with 131,840 sq. ft let . GVA'sThe Big Nine quarterly review of the regional office occupier market indicates total office take-up in the first quarter of 2014 at 1.16 million sq ft was seven per cent above the five-yearly average.
