Rock Bottom Restaurants Realigns Management Structure; Move Designed to Focus on Long-Term Growth.

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 25, 1996--Rock Bottom Restaurants, Inc. (NASDAQ: BREW), operator of Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery restaurants and Old Chicago restaurants, today announced that the Company has realigned top management by creating a Brewery Restaurant Division and an Old Chicago Restaurant Division. Ned Lidvall, vice president of operations since October 1995, will head the Brewery Restaurant Division, and Bill Edmiston, vice president of development since July 1995, will head the Old Chicago Restaurant Division.

"We are positioning Rock Bottom for long-term growth by creating two divisions with separate concept heads who manage restaurant operations and their related support functions," said Thomas A. Moxcey, president and CEO. "This strategic realignment will target our efforts on improving execution of the concepts and in controlling restaurant design, construction and operating costs, ultimately maximizing profits for our shareholders."

Moxcey also commented that Lidvall and Edmiston's expansive knowledge of the restaurant industry and their history with Rock Bottom make them the perfect candidates for leading these divisions. "Ned and Bill are seasoned veterans in this business," said Moxcey. "Their individual leadership brought Rock Bottom's development program and operational focus to a new level this past year. I'm confident that with their direction of these two new divisions, the Company will continue to be successful in a competitive marketplace."

Both Lidvall and Edmiston were named executive vice president of their respective divisions. Lidvall previously served as president and COO of Brinker International's On The Border Cafes and also held senior management positions with Chi-Chi's Mexican Restaurants, Western Sizzlin, and Steak and Ale restaurants. Edmiston previously held senior management positions in international operations with Boston Chicken Inc. and Blockbuster Entertainment Corporation, and prior to that served in various management positions with Steak & Ale and Bennigan's restaurants.
