Robots score a hit.

There is usually little excitement from the rest of my family when PE hits the doormat in the morning post. Whilst I find the articles informative and fascinating, I'm never at risk of losing the magazine as others in the house effortlessly avoid the temptation to read it.

All change for the June issue, though. On seeing an article about Robot Wars ("Battle of the bots"), my four-year-old son Matthew's eyes nearly popped out of his head. He is a massive Robot Wars fan, and loved seeing the photos of his mechanical heroes in his Dad's magazine. He said: "I like building robots out of Meccano [the super-size plastic version] and I like acting out Robot Wars with them."

He sat attentively alongside me as I read the article aloud to him. Thank you very much for making me a hero in my son's eyes again.
