Robin Padilla blasts Senator Franklin Drilon in live rant: 'Mahiya kayo'.
Padilla seemingly looked frustrated in the video as he targeted Drilon, after apparently hearing the senator being interviewed by DZMM.
'Ang aga aga nadinig ko sa radyo si Senator Drilon at nagpapabida nanaman po dun sa DZMM at pinalalabas nanaman po niya na kaniyang pinagtatanggol ang saligang batas. Yun eh. Ang laging dating nito eh defender of our constitution,' fired Padilla as he spoke in front of the camera.
(I heard Senator Drilon over at DZMM very early in the morning, and again he is making it appear that he is defending the constitution. That's it. [He always makes it appear that] he is the defender of our constitution.)
'Ang tanong ko lang dito sa taong ito bago pag usapan natin si BBL, baka nakakalimutan niyo na yung ginawa niyo diyan sa DAP. Mr. Franklin Drilon yun pong ginawa niyo sa DAP yun po ay labag sa constitution.'
(My only question to this man, before we talk about BBL, is perhaps you have forgotten what you did about DAP. Mr. Franklin Drilon, what you did with DAP, that is against the constitution.)
Padilla wasn't pleased about Drilon's stance regarding the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL) and the administration's preparations for charter change. Drilon recently told reporters that the approval of the proposed BBL showed there was no need to overhaul the 1987 Constitution. The crafting of the proposed BBL, according to Drilon, showed that it is possible to give local governments autonomy and strong powers.
But it seems Padilla could not contain his sentiments towards the senator, as he continued to say, 'O ngayon, mabalik tayo sa kasalukuyan, ang pinaguusupan kanina ang binibida ninyo, ang pinagtatanggol ninyo ang saligang batas diyan sa BBL.
(Now let's go back to the present, what we're talking about is the constitution, what [you claim] to be defending [against the BBL]. Aren't you ashamed? I'm the one ashamed for you. I'm so ashamed for you because you got such a nerve to say, 'I will not allow the constitution to be defied.')
Padila then started to give Drilon a history lesson about the Moro people: 'Kung inyo pang lalaliman ang inyong kaalaman sa kasaysayan, senador Drilon, tayo po ay nagmula lahat sa Austronesia race. Pwede pong pakibasa niyo yan, tutal abugado kayo.'
(If you would deepen your knowledge of history, Sen. Drilon, we all came from the Austronesia race. Please read up on that, anyway, you're a lawyer.)
'Sila po yung nanggaling po ng Austronesia na race...' Padilla continued to say. 'Sila po ay mga animalist, ibig sabihin ng animalist sumasamba po sila sa kalikasan.'
(They're the ones who came from the Austronesia race. They are animalist. They worship nature.)
By this point Padilla may have gotten confused, as he was most likely pertaining to animism, not animalism. Animalism pertains to the philosophical theory in regard to the metaphysical nature of humans: that humans are simply animals, and not immaterial souls. Meanwhile, animism refers to the belief that natural objects, such as trees, animals, rivers, rocks, and the like, are animated by spirits.
But Padilla kept on with his tirade: 'Yan para alam po ninyo senador kasi parang hindi niyo po alam, mas maganda isang ex convict ang nagsasabi sa inyo ng kasaysayan.'
(There, so that you know, senator, because it looks like you don't know. It's better that an ex-convict tells you about history.)
Padilla's video spanned almost 30 minutes, with him giving an overview of the Philippines' history and talking about the Bangsamoros and federalism. It's known that Padilla is a staunch supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte, and promotes charter change for a shift to federalism.
At one point, Padilla also targeted the Liberal Party and said that 'Mayor,' pertaining to Duterte, is just continuing what they started.
'Ito talagang LP ang gugulo niyo. Kayo ang kumokontra sa bagay na kayo ang nag umpisa. Ang BBL panahon pa yan ng LP, pakana yan ni Noynoy Aquino na sila rin sumabotahe kaya hindi ho yan natuloy, kaya ngayon tinutuloy ni mayor,' urged Padilla.
(This LP, you're such a mess. You are opposing something that you started. BBL has been there since the time of LP, it's Noynoy Aquino's scheme, which they themselves sabotaged, that's why it didn't push through. Now, mayor is continuing it.)
(Let us give to those who came before us here what they are asking for. It's them who really owns this, and the territory is so small. Let's have some shame.)
