Robbie on the lookout for an Irish hideaway; STAR WANTS TO ESCAPE FROM MEDIA.
Byline: PAUL MARTIN at the MTV Awards in BarcelonaROBBIE Williams wants to buy a house in Ireland to escape the pressures of fame.
The singer will look at potential properties next summer when he returns to Dublin for a massive concert at Phoenix Park.
As he prepared for his live performance at the MTV Awards tonight, a close pal said: "Robbie wants to live between Los Angeles and Ireland.
"To be honest, he's had enough of London. He has made no secret of the fact he loves Ireland."
Robbie, 28, has signed a pounds 80million (EUR125m) deal with EMI for six albums, the first of which, Escapology, was released last week.
The star recently bought a $4million (EUR4m) mansion in Los Angeles where he has spent the last year.
His pal added: "Robbie's paid the price over the years for his fame. Ireland is the kind of place where he can escape from the every day pressures of the media and that appeals to him."
Meanwhile, the stars have been arriving in force for tonight's showbiz event of the year.
U2 are nominated for four awards but they are not guaranteed success. Westlife, Samantha Mumba and Ronan Keating failed to receive any nominations.
American stars such as Pink, Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez are expected to sweep the boards.
Last night show host P Diddy told the Irish Mirror he wanted U2 to win. He said "They are a real rock band and deserve the top honours. But you can't always guarantee justice at these things.
"U2 have had an amazing year so no matter what happens they can hold their heads up high."
Ronan Keating and Pierce Brosnan will keep Ireland in the spotlight by presenting awards.
Brosnan said: "I don't get to many of these music events so I'm going to make the most of it. Obviously, being Irish, I'm hoping U2 win."
