Robbery duo returned to UAE to face charges.
Two men suspected of carrying out robberies in Dubai have been detained in Kuwait, the UAE's Ministry of Interior said.Officers from the ministry said Dubai Police informed them that some Asian men, suspected of robbing shops in
the emirate, were believed to have fled the country via Abu Dhabi International Airport, and headed to their home country.
The ministry, co-ordinating with Interpol, discovered the men were to make a stopover in Kuwait.
The suspects were arrested at Kuwait International Airport and have now been referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of robbery and fleeing the country, according to a ministry statement issued yesterday. No details were revealed about the robberies the Asian men allegedly carried out.
The officers praised the Kuwaiti authorities for their cooperation with the UAE security teams to arrest the duo.
The ministry also cited another recent case om which a 30-year-old European man who allegedly robbed a shop at Dubai's Gold Souq in 2007 was finally tracked down.
The man has been operating a business in the UK, and authorities there, in coordination with Interpol arrested the suspect and handed him over to the UAE authorities. He faces charges of robbery.
