Robbers run off with cash from post office.
ROBBERS burst into a Belle Vale post office and threatened two workers before raiding the safe and fleeing with thousands of pounds.
Armed police descended on Belle Vale Road following the raid at around 5.30pm yesterday, just as the store was closing.
Officers found the two women distressed but uninjured at the scene, though one, in her 40s, had to be given first aid for shock.
The owner of the post office, who asked not to be named, told the ECHO: "The girls were ready to close. As they went to close the door two lads barged in, told the girls to get on the floor and then went to the safe.
"I haven't had a chance to speak to them properly yet, they are still with the police. They are really shaken."
Patrols searched the area for the two men, who are both described as white, of slim build, around 6ft tall, and spoke with Liverpool accents. One had a deep voice and one was more softly spoken.
One was wearing a light grey tracksuit and was carrying a bright yellow or light green drawstring bag. The other was wearing darker clothing. Neither appeared to be armed.
