Road widening scheme begins.

MOTORISTS are facing even more summer misery as work to widen one of the major routes in the city gets under way this week.

Traffic in Binley Road, between Bromleigh Drive and Princethorpe Way, was expected to be down to one lane today as work starts on the footpath.

The new roadworks have come when drivers are already facing snarl ups all over the city.

Roadworks are causing hold ups on the A45 at Finham where improvements are being made to the carriageway and road junctions.

The A444 Styvechale to Cheylesmore bypass is being worked on and Gibbet Hill Road is being resurfaced.

More work is also expected on Monday in Lockhurst Lane, Foleshill, by Severn Trent.

The contractors working in Binley Road will begin clearing the site to install lighting columns at the end of the month.

Work will begin on the dual carriageway between Bromleigh Drive and Allard Way.

The work is expected to be completed in early 2005, to help improve the reliability of bus services.
