Byline: The Register-GuardHere's a look at major road construction this week around the region. Weather conditions may cause delays.
Eugene-River Road area
Jefferson Street: Closed between Fourth and Third avenues during daytime construction hours beginning Monday, as Union Pacific Railroad upgrades the track crossing. At night, the track trenches will be filled with gravel and the intersection will be opened as a "rough crossing."
Patterson Street between 18th and 21st avenues, Hilyard Street between 19th and 20th avenues and East 19th Avenue between University and Patterson streets: Under construction for wastewater repairs. Watch for lane closures and detours. Use alternate routes.
East 22nd Avenue from Potter to University streets: Closed to through traffic during daytime construction hours for repaving following wastewater repairs.
Tyler, Taylor and Adams streets between 24th and 28th avenues: Lane closures; traffic controlled by flaggers; speed bumps installed.
Echo Hollow Road from Royal Avenue to Dove Lane: Lane and sidewalk closures as paving repair work continues. Rotomilling work starts Wednesday. Flaggers.
18th Avenue from Bailey Hill Road to Josh Street: Lane closures as excavation and paving repairs continue. Flaggers.
Douglas Drive: Exit lanes at the Eugene Airport are being repaved. Expect brief delays.
Amazon Parkway between 19th Avenue and 24th Place: Under construction for sidewalk installation. Watch for trucks entering roadway and bicycle lane impacts.
Springfield
South 32nd Street: Closed for maintenance until late October. Detours include South 42nd Street and Jasper Road. Arrangements will be made for residents who cannot access their homes. For more information, call 736-1010.
Cottage Grove Area
London Road: Crews will install asphalt overlay this week from Raisor Road to the end of London Road near Milepost 14. Flaggers and pilot cars will control traffic, with delays up to 20 minutes possible.
Dexter Area
Highway 58: Driveway paving continues from Dexter Park to Kitson Ridge Road, Mileposts 11-39. Expect minor delays.
East Lane County
McKenzie Highway 126: Guardrail and bridge work from Mileposts 38-55 and the Clear Lake-Belknap Springs Highway, from Finn Rock to the Lane County line. Watch for signs, flaggers and workers along the roadside; expect minor delays.
Elmira area
Territorial Highway: Construction continues on addition of a left-turn lane, curbs, sidewalks and a pedestrian island at a school crossing at Warthen Road, near Milepost 18.5. Expect 20 minute delays; flaggers.
Junction City area
Highway 99: Final clean-up work on the major reconstruction of Highway 99 from Flat Creek Bridge to West Third Avenue; expect minor delays.
Mapleton-Greenleaf area
Nelson Mountain Road: Work continues on the reroofing of the Lake Creek Covered Bridge, with the road closed on both sides of the bridge from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on work days.
Marcola area
Marcola Road: Installation of sidewalks and drainage structures will continue through the week from Parsons Creek to Wendling roads. Watch for flaggers and expect delays up to 20 minutes between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Oakridge Area
Highway 58: Project continues to add passing lanes, widen the highway, build new fish culverts and install new signs and guardrails from Kitson Ridge to the West Salt Creek Tunnel, Mileposts 39-56. Flaggers and pilot cars control traffic; expect delays up to 20 minutes.
Santa Clara Area
Irvington Drive: Installation of storm sewers and modification to the sanitary sewer system between Verbena Avenue and Spring Creek Drive, with roadbed excavation between Verbena and Korbel Street. The roadway will be closed to through traffic during work hours; signed detour routes will be designated, with flaggers controlling traffic; expect 20-minute delays.
River Road: Fine grading throughout the week between Carthage Avenue and Beacon Drive, along with sidewalk and street-lighting installation. Expect 15 minute delays; flaggers.
Seavey Loop Area
Seavey Way: Construction continues on the Frank Parrish Bridge over the Coast Fork of the Willamette River at the entrance to the Howard Buford Recreation Area, with traffic diverted to a detour bridge; flaggers, minimal delays.
South Lane County Area
Interstate 5: Traffic will be reduced to one lane southbound from 5 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday about Milepost 180 as construction continues on the Coast Fork Willamette River Bridge. Expect congestion, delays and slow trucks and other construction vehicles entering or leaving the freeway.
Springfield Area
McKenzie Highway 126: Possible lane closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday for continued work on the bridges across the Willamette River at Franklin Boulevard.
