Here's a look at major road construction this week around the region. Weather conditions may cause delays.
Eugene-River Road area
Washington Street: Closed between Fourth and Third avenues during daytime construction hours for several days beginning Monday, as Union Pacific Railroad upgrades the track crossing. At night, the track trenches will be filled with gravel and the intersection will be opened as a "rough crossing."
Patterson Street between 18th and 24th avenues, Hilyard between 19th and 20th avenues, East 19th from University to Hilyard, Bertelsen at West 11th Avenue, and Cal Young Road between Debrick and Happy Lane: Occasional lane closures and equipment in the roadways and on sidewalks during daytime construction hours as work continues on wastewater rehabilitation projects.
East 19th Avenue between Patterson and Hilyard streets: Detours for both east- and westbound traffic at times as crews work on underground wastewater lines.
Polk Street between 24th and 28th avenues and 24th between Fillmore and Friendly streets: Lane closures and equipment in the roadway as work continues on neighborhood traffic calming improvements.
Cottage Grove area
Adams Road: Roadway repair and pavement removal begin Wednesday between the Cottage Grove-Lorane Highway and Gowdyville Road. Watch for flaggers; expect delays of 10-15 minutes.
Gowdyville Road: Roadway repair on the Cottage Grove-Lorane Highway to the end of the existing pavement near Milepost 1.9. Flaggers control traffic; expect 10-15 minutes delays.
London Road: Roadway repair and cold-plane removal begin Wednesday from Raisor Road to the end of London Road, about Milepost 8.8 to 14.1. Flaggers control traffic; expect delays of 10-15 minutes.
Nelson Mountain Road: Reroofing begins on the Lake Creek Covered Bridge, with the road closed to through traffic on both sides of the bridge from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. each weekday.
Marcola Road: Installation of curbs, gutters and sidewalks between Parsons Creek and Wendling roads continues as part of roadway reconstruction, as well as fine grading of the roadway surface in preparation for paving. Base lift paving from Wendling Road to the north end of the project will begin late in the week. Watch for flaggers; expect 20-minute delays. Traffic to and from Sweet Home should seek other routes.
Santa Clara area
Irvington Drive: Installation of storm sewers and modifications to the sanitary sewer will be ongoing this week between Arrowhead and Willowbrook streets. The roadway will be closed during working hours; signed detour routes will be set up around the work zone. Road excavation also will begin from Northwest Expressway to the east, with traffic controlled by flaggers. Expect 20-minute delays.
River Road: Installation of storm sewers and new roadbed excavation continues between Springwood and Beacon drives. Flaggers will control traffic; expect delays up to 20 minutes. Seek alternate routes when possible.
Seavey Loop area
Seavey Way: Work continues on demolition of the old Frank Parrish Bridge at the entrance to the Howard Buford Recreation Area, with traffic diverted to a detour bridge. Flaggers on hand; expect minimal delays.
Highway 58: Repaving continues from Dexter Park to Kitson Ridge Road, Mileposts 11 to 39. Expect heavy traffic with closed lanes and up to 20-minute delays, from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays. Watch for signs, flaggers and workers. Use alternate routes, if possible.
East Lane County area
Highway 58: Construction work from Kitson Ridge to the West Salt Creek Tunnel (Mileposts 56 to 39) includes addition of passing lanes, highway widening, new fish culverts, signs and guardrails. Expect 20-minute delays, with flaggers and pilot cars directing traffic.
Territorial Highway: Construction of left turn lane at Warthen Road as well as curbs, sidewalks and a pedestrian island at a school crossing. Expect daytime delays up to 20 minutes. Watch for flaggers.
Finn Rock area
McKenzie Highway 126: Guardrail and bridge work continues from Milepost 38 to Milepost 55. Expect minor delays; watch for signs, flaggers and workers alongside the road.
Junction City area
Highway 99 West: Expect night-time lane closures and delays up to 20 minutes from Flat Creek Bridge to West Third Avenue, during final paving and traffic signal work. Watch for traffic changes and abrupt edges.
South Lane County area
Interstate 5: Work continues on removing concrete debris and laying rip-rap at the Coast Fork Willamette River Bridge about Milepost 180, with traffic detoured onto a temporary bridge. Watch for trucks and other construction vehicles in the work zone.
McKenzie Highway 126: Westbound bridge across the Willamette River between Springfield and Glenwood will be closed for resurfacing through Aug. 6, with traffic detoured to a single lane on the eastbound bridge. Expect detours and delays; alternate routes recommended. All businesses remain open; use McVay Highway (Old Franklin Boulevard) for easier access to businesses at the west end of the bridge.
