Riversiders net results.

RIVERSIDE Netball Club's under-14 and under-16 sides put in creditable performances at the National Netball Finals.

The tournament was held in Manchester's Sugden Centre and attracted clubs from all over the country who had qualified through their regional competitions.

Newcastle-based Riverside qualified via their event at Blue Flames.

Each team competed in leagues based upon their age and qualification.

The under-16s faced minor problems before they even made the trip south as four of their regular players had to pull out at the last minute.

Their three young replacements were Ruby Wilkinson, Ellen Barton and Hettie Williams.

They joined captain Josie Buck, Jennifer Wharton, Hannah Wrightson, Helen Whale, Karmen Tsang, Rebecca Bland and Sabeen Hassan in achieving 16th place.

They drew with Nottingham City but then suffered play-off heartbreak by losing 31-15 to Hull Chevrons.

The under-14s consisted of Kate Nissen, Laura Brady, Amy Larsen, Megan Fitzgerald, Bridget Welsh, Hatty Brown, Charlotte Staton, Lizzie Freeman, Becky Steel, Lucy Pages and captain Farrah Hassan.

Up against tough competition, Riverside claimed 17th spot.

The clubs were also voted the best team to umpire in the competition.
