ACROSS the water The Great British Bake Off has taken the country by storm but we've nothing to compete with it on this side of the pond.
Maybe it's because apart from coddle, boxty and crubeens we don't have much of a culinary tradition here.
On the other hand, we are very good at certain things. Take fraud for instance - what about a show entitled The Great Irish Rip-Off ? While we might not be great in the kitchen, when it comes to cooking the books our professional classes would wipe the floor with the opposition.
Even the Italians, and that's saying something.
