Riot plea to Ahern.
SINN Fein yesterday called on Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to help end rioting in Belfast.
Dublin South Central TD Aengus O Snodaigh made the plea during a visit to Short Strand in the east of the city.
He said: "Nationalist communities are living under siege and are living in intolerable conditions.
"Mr Ahern's government has had meetings with local residents but I think more needs to be done."
Earlier Church of Ireland Archbishop Robin Eames called for an end to sectarian rioting.
PSNI Assistant Chief Constable Alan McQuillan blamed the IRA and UVF for organising the peaceline violence.
