Rio attacked in club.

FOOTBALL ace Rio Ferdinand has been attacked by a man in a Swedish nightclub.

The Manchester United star was hit on the side of the head during a night out in the Opera Cafe in Stockholm.

Eyewitnesses said a man tried to take a picture of Ferdinand,26, onhismobilephone When the England defender turned away, he lunged forward, swinging with the phone clenched in his fist.

The blow caught the player on the side of the head.

Bouncers dragged the attacker off Ferdinand and threw him out .

The player said: 'It was unpleasant but sometimes these things happen.

'I just want to apologise to anyone who was in the scuffle but it was nothing to do with me. I just came over here to party and meet some beautiful women.'

The attack happened in the early hours of Saturday
