Rings thief hops it on crutches.

A thief on crutches escaped from a hospital after stealing jewellery. The burly man, whose left leg was bandaged, escaped with three gold rings from a shop in the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff.

Police said the man had asked to see the rings at a shop called Event Jewellery - but when the assistant produced them, he grabbed the rings and headed for the grounds.

The stolen items are a nine-carat white gold diamond ring, an 18-carat white gold crossover ring and an 18-carat white gold ring with diamond studs.

The theft happened at around 11.20am yesterday and the thief is white, aged 30 to 40 and of large build with short, dark hair.
