Riders from Baltimore, San Diego Top $177,000 for PBTF.

Asheville, NC, September 25, 2013 --(PR.com)-- Motorcyclists banded together for Ride for Kids events in Baltimore and San Diego on Sept. 22, raising $177,593 for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Seven young brain tumor survivors were the Stars of the rides in West Friendship, Md., and Cardiff, Calif. The events featured local emcee and celebrity appearances, catered meals and more.

Riders at both events heard about how the funds they raise make a difference to children with brain tumors. “When I first got involved there was little interest in pursuing a cure of pediatric brain tumors,” said Johns Hopkins researcher Dr. Chetan Bettegowda. “Now as a direct result of the funds you all raise, there have been great strides in the treatments for this disease.”

Making life better for these Ride for Kids Stars is the reason motorcyclists across the country ride for the PBTF, which funds medical research and family support programs to help eliminate the challenges of childhood brain tumors.

The events are still collecting donations online at www.rideforkids.org. Fundraisers will receive incentive credit through Oct. 22.
