Riddle as DJ Mike is taken off air.

Radio Clyde disc jockey Mike Riddoch was axed after his breakfast show yesterday.

He will be replaced by colleague George Bowie this morning.

But last night, the reason Riddoch was being taken off air was still a mystery.

Clyde bosses refused to say whether 47-year-old Mike had been sacked or suspended.

The Clyde 1 FM presenter struggled through his three-hour programme yesterday and was later carpeted by bosses.

One listener said: "He did his best, but it was a real struggle for him.

"I'm not surprised to hear he has been taken off the air."

Riddoch was not at his flat in the west end of Glasgow last night.

His wife, Gillian, who used to read AA traffic reports on Radio Clyde, said: "I don't know what is happening."

Clyde managing director Alex Dickson was unavailable for comment last night.

But it is believed he was furious that he was not contacted while Riddoch was on the air - so he could have been replaced mid-show.
