Ricoh Americas Corporation, a provider of digital office equipment and document management solutions and services and a subsidiary of Ricoh Co Ltd (NASDAQ-OTCBB:RICOY), announced today the launch of Ricoh HotSpot technology for Ricoh Multifunction Printers (MFPs).

The company said that Ricoh HotSpot MFPs offer mobile users the added convenience of printing remotely, making HotSpot a viable solution for business travellers, sales reps, educational facilities, medical offices and others who require access to important files while mobile.

The HotSpot MFPs enable users to print securely across the Internet, without the need for a device specific driver or special software, according to Ricoh. Mobile printing solutions for the Ricoh HotSpot MFPs are powered by PrinterOn. Users can send documents, web pages and e-mails to a remote server where the data is converted into a printable file for the HotSpot MFPs and is transmitted to the device. A secure release code is then sent to the user who can enter the code at the MFP LCD panel when ready to print.

Ricoh said that the launch of the HotSpot feature for the MFP is a critical step for Ricoh as it expands its mobile printing offering, giving Ricoh customers a competitive advantage by offering a secure, web connected option that allows users to print from their smartphones to any Ricoh HotSpot enabled device and allowing them to better conduct their business quickly and efficiently.
