Richard Burton's life on stage.

THE life of iconic Welsh actor and Hollywood star Richard Burton will come under the spotlight on Sunday.

One-man show Playing Burton will be performed at Mold's Clwyd Theatr Cymru by Josh Richards.

The show, which won acclaim at Edinburgh Festival, will also be staged at Cardiff's Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, when Burton's daughter Kate will unveil a new bust of the actor.

Directed by Burton''s great nephew, Guy Masterson, the play is described as a emotional helter-skelter ride through the life of a flawed genius.

It follows the actor's story, from his early years, born Richie Jenkins, growing up as the 12th child of a drunken Welsh miner, to becoming the most nominated actor never to win an Oscar, only to waste his talent, squander his millions and drink himself to an early death. The show has toured over 400 performances over 10 years.

Josh Richards trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and is presently performing in Clwyd Theatr Cymru's production of Shakespeare's Taming Of The Shrew. He appeared in South Pacific in the West End.
