Rich rewards for Whelan; BETTING REPORT.

WILLANDRICH was sent off a warm order at evens to complete a hat-trick in the 2m5f handicap hurdle at Plumpton and he duly landed the odds - but it was far from plain sailing.

Held up early on by conditional Trevor Whelan, he was soon off the bridle and being bustled up from an early stage.

In-running layers were quick to react, pushing him out to a high of 50, and they looked to have very little to worry about as Willandrich struggled on in third approaching the home turn.

However, his rider kept persisting and, after making significant progress between the last two hurdles, he plugged on to outstay long-time leader Art Exhibition on the run-in and give his jockey reward for a fine effort in the saddle.
