Rice backed for vice role; POLITICS.

SPECULATION continues to indicate that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice may become Republican candidate John McCain's running mate in the US election, and that has led to Hills cutting her to be the next vicepresident.

The firm have cut Rice from 20-1 to 12-1 to take the role currently held by Dick Cheney, but she is still only joint sixth favourite in the betting.

Bill Richardson, New Mexico governor and former candidate in the Democratic nomination earlier this year, has endorsed presidential front-runner Barack Obama, and is 7-1 favourite.
