Riaz Lalji returns home.

KARACHI, June 1 -- Riaz Lalji, a well known businessman and a close friend of President Asif Ali Zardari, returned to his house on Monday after spending almost 24 hours in the captivity of unidentified abductors.

However, his driver Kishan and gunman Ahmad Khan are still missing. Interior Minister Rehman Malik told reporters that the abductors released Lalji on the Hub River Road, adding that cooperation between intelligence agencies and police led to his release. The minister said police had barricaded all entrance and exit points of the city, due to which the abductors were trapped.

Capital City Police Officer Waseem Ahmad said the abductors wanted to move Lalji out of Karachi. He said police was trying to trace the abductors and get Lalji's driver and gunman released.

A security official suspected the involvement of the Baloch Liberation Army in the incident, as the abductors were trying to move Lalji to Balochistan.

Last night, Malik and FIA Director General Zafar Khan had arrived in Karachi on the directives of President Asif Ali Zardari.
