Rhino Season is the latest film from the director Bahman Ghobadi who previously filmed only with Kurds until he left Iran, as no more filming was possible there and nested in Turkey to make the film. The film is based on the true story of Kurdish poet Sadegh Kamangar who was arrested during the Islamic Revolution in Iran and imprisoned for thirty years.
Kurds, favorite poet Sagel and his wife Mina were arrested during the revolution and imprisoned. Mina was released after five years and believing she was the only survivor struggled to make a new life with the children she had borne during the imprisonment. Sagel also survives but is released twenty five years later and goes to Turkey meet his family only to face another tragedy.
