Revved Up: TESTED Mitsubishi Colt 1.1 Equippe.

Byline: With Scott PIECHA and Paul MYLES

IT'S time drivers thought more about what they need instead of just the image they want to convey because if you need a people carrier there are few better than the little Colt, writes PAUL MYLES.

It may have only five seats but boasts Tardis-like space inside while being a tiny city car. In common with most Mitsubishis, it's a hoot to drive. Its 1.1-litre three-cylinder engine sprints away from traffic lights and cruises happily above the motorway speed limit while returning 50mpg.

This five-door Colt will easily accommodate five members of the school's First XV and with air-con, CD and airbags as standard, this is a lot of car for your money.

Prices from pounds 9,999 on the road
