Revenue from tourism rises 5.7% in April to ,e1/4138m.

Revenue from tourism rose in April 5.7 per cent to e1/4137.9m compared to the respective month of 2015, the statistical service said.

In the first four months of the year, total revenue rose 12 per cent to e1/4285.5m which is 12 per cent more compared to January to April 2015, Cystat said in a statement on its website on Friday.

In April and in January to April, total tourist arrivals rose 12 per cent and 22 per cent respectively according to Cystat.

In April, tourists visiting Cyprus shortened their average stay by 0.6 days to 8.5 compared to April 2016. This, combined with an annual 5.6 per cent drop of average spending per person during their vacation to e1/4611.37, which a 1.3 per cent annual increase in average spending per day to e1/471.93 was unable to offset, prevented revenue from increasing at the same pace as arrivals.
