Revellers throng Liverpool's Cube nightspot on opening night.

LIVERPOOL'S newest nightspot was packed to the roof last night as thousands of revellers turned out for a special opening night.

Cube has been created from a former warehouse as part of the first phase of the new Concert Steps development.

The outside of the building creates a striking lightshow which changes colour, while inside the four floors consist of bars, nightclubs, a restaurant, and a rooftop terrace offering city views.

Jamie McDiarmid, general manager of Cube, said more than pounds 3m had been ploughed into the 18-month project.

"The idea is to to make Concert Steps a more upmarket, more exclusive night area," he added.

The regeneration project, which will link Concert Square with the gateway to Liverpool One, involves the creation of a pedestrian route from Fleet Street to Seel Street.
