Retina camera for Specsavers.

CUSTOMERS at an opticians in Pontypridd can benefit from a more comprehensive health assessment service with the installation of a new retinal camera.

Specsavers in Taff Street has introduced the state of the art equipment in order to improve the early diagnosis and prevention of eye disease and other health conditions.

By taking detailed pictures of the inside of the eye, the camera can detect a variety of health problems, such as, glaucoma, inflammatory disorders, age-related macular degeneration and vascular occlusions.

Paul Molton, store director, said: "An eye examination can determine so much more than just how good your eyesight is. The new fundus camera can detect more serious medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure and tumours."
