Attention! pt03 reporting for duty! This high performance running shoe (pounds 79) produced by UK Gear in association with the British Army is the first of its kind.

It's been tested by fitness instructors from the Army Physical Training Corps, who advised on the design and tested the shoe on track, trail and road conditions over a six-month period.

They liked it so much that 450 APTC instructors all over the world now wear it. The Army haven't sold out. Colonel Robin Clifford, head of the Army's Commercial Branch, says it's a pioneering initiative which shows the force's expertise in a positive way.

It's worked so well that there's a gym shoe for indoor use currently in progress. Our tester wore the PT03 over a two-month period and reports back that it is a tremendously supportive, comfortable wear-all-day type of breathable shoe.
