Resort hospital is a gem says Minister.

HEALTH minister Edwina Hart yesterday called Llandudno Hospital "a gem" and hinted there could be good news for its staff soon.

She was speaking after she and Aberconwy AM Gareth Jones visited its osteoporosis unit which treats 4,000 patients a year.

The minister is studying the Burns report and a review by health administrator Brian Pickles into the hospital's services.

Praising the "dedicated" staff, Mrs Hart said: "I am particularly keen to be associated with developments in Llandudno because I think there is going to be good news in the future. I want to enhance services because I think it's important."

Mrs Hart said NHS must learn lessons from the "first class" osteoporosis unit: "We want to have something in Wrexham Maelor so (all) North Wales that patients stay in North Wales." she added.
