Reservations on CPEC to be removed through consensus; Raja Zafar-ul- Haq.
ISLAMABAD -- Leader of the House in Senate Raja Zafar ul Haq has said that government is very much sincere to remove reservations of all political parties about the route of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Speaking on an adjournment motion about the concerns of People of Kybher Pakhtunkwa and Balochistan about western route of CPEC, he said that a 10-member committee headed by Prime Minister has been constituted and any issue would be resolved through consensus. He said that it has been decided to hold periodic meetings on the issue so that apprehensions if any should be removed in time. He said that All Parties Conference (APC) chaired by Prime Minister has been held and it has been decided to remove apprehensions about this route.
Leader of the House Aitzaz Ahsan said that Parliament is the best forum to discuss the issues of national importance. CPEC is an important issue and the recommendations of the lawmakers should be honored, he added.
PPPP Senator Osman Saifullah highlighted the importance of CPEC and said it is project to connect various areas of the country. He demanded the government to review its routes particularly from Hassan Abdal to Dera Ismail Khan. More roads should not be built in those areas having good connectivity roads but focus should be to link remote areas, he maintained.
Senator Kulsoom Perveen also appreciated the step taken by the government to resolve the issue. He said Prime Minister is heading the committee constituted to resolve issues related to CPEC which shows sincerity of the government towards the project.
PkMAP Senator Usman Kakar said that other projects related to energy and Railway sectors should be also focused in remote areas of Balochistan.
PPPP Senator Saussi Palejo said consensus is very much crucial for success of CPEC project. It is useful for the whole country but complaints of small provinces should be addressed about it.
Azam Swati said CPEC is of equal importance for Pakistan and China. CPEC is the future of country and effective measures should be taken to protect it, he added.
