Report on dog mess owners.

DIRTY dogs are facing a crackdown in South Tyneside. South Tyneside Council has launched a new campaign to clean the borough of anti-social dog owners.

No Messing! aims to put an end to dog fouling across the area.

Offending owners will face an pounds 80 fine if they fail to clean up after their dogs.

The fine will be reduced to pounds 50 if paid within seven days, but failure to pay the fine could result in prosecution, with a maximum fine of a pounds 1,000 fine in court.

A confidential phone line has been set up for residents to report offenders, and dog wardens will be handing out free 'poop scoop'' bags in parks.

The will also reward responsible dog owners by putting them into a monthly prize draw.
