According to a new market research report from US-based market research and consulting firm MarketsandMarkets the total Baggage Handling Systems market is expected to USD 30.66bn by 2017, at an estimated CAGR of 7.08% from 2012 to 2017.

The report said that baggage handling systems play roles in airport safety and security with regards to baggage screening from the time bags are checked in till they reach the departing aircraft.

Newer systems use in-line screening which is the need of the hour due to constant threats and attacks that are being tried by various outfits to dismantle the peace and tranquility of various nations.

BHS are already in place in almost all parts of the world, due to fear of baggage's being stuck up together or to avert any mishandled baggage situation. This technology can help process the bags to their right destinations with the help of baggage tags which detect those using sensors.

The global Baggage Handling Systems market revenue is expected to grow from USD 21.78bn in 2012 to USD 30.66bn by 2017, at an estimated CAGR of 7.08% from 2012 to 2017.

APAC commanded the largest share of the Baggage Handling Systems market revenue in 2012 at USD 6.32bn; and is expected to reach USD 9.06bn by 2017, at a CAGR of 7.48% from 2012 to 2017.
