Report: Trump Tells Republicans He Doesn't Want Impeachment on His 'Resume'.
Summary: TEHRAN (FNA)- President Donald Trump privately told House Republicans that he is worried about the effect impeachment would have on his legacy, Axios reported on Sunday.
Trump stated that impeachment is a "bad thing to have on your resume" in a call with House Republicans, a source on the call told Axios.
Two other sources confirmed the substance of the remark to the news outlet, but one said they remembered Trump phrasing it as "you don't want it [impeachment] on your resume".
The sources added that after the comment, Trump noted, "But it's going to make Kevin Speaker," referring to House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
House Democrats formally launched an impeachment inquiry two weeks ago after details emerged of a phone call between Trump and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump pressed Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden during the July 25 conversation, according to a partial transcript the White House released.
The American president and his allies have sought to discredit the impeachment inquiry, calling the process a hoax.
