Repair staff set to walk out over pension row.

SCORES of council house repair staff will take part in a one-day walk-out this month.

Enterprise-Liverpool employees have voted to join council workers in a national strike on March 28 about proposed pension changes.

About 300 members of the T&G trade union could down tools, although officials today said an emergency call-out service would operate to make sure council tenants did not suffer.

T&G convenor Sid Graves said: "Members voted in favour of industrial action, so we will join our local government colleagues.

"The proposed changes will have a bad effect on pensions and we have to take the government on."

Union members voted for action after talks between unions, ministers and council bosses failed to resolve the dispute over scrapping the rule which allowed retirement on full pension once combined age and years of service add up to 85.
