Repair of damaged bridges, roads urged.

PESHAWAR, Aug. 13 -- Minister for Science and Technology Muhammad Ayub Khan has directed the concerned quarters to expedite the pace of repair work on the Chakdara bridge so as to restore land access of Dir, Chitral and other areas with other parts of the country.

He issued the directive during his visit to the under construction bridge on Thursday. MPAs Waqar Ahmad Khan, Rehmat Ali and other officials were also present on the occasion.

Ayub Khan directed the officials to take all measures to ensure early rehabilitation of the disaster-hit areas.

The minister also reviewed pace of construction work on the Gaman bridge linking Barikot with Shamozai. He directed for speedy repair work to provide transportation facilities to the local people.

Speaking with the local people on the occasion, he assured them that the government was utilising all available resources for early repair and construction of roads, bridges and installation of power transformers and grids in the affected areas.
