Remembering the unthinkable.
Byline: The Register-GuardThe Register-Guard plans to publish a special package of letters on the one-year anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Readers who would like to offer a brief reflection - it might be a memory, a thought on how Sept. 11 has changed them or a lesson that it has for the nation - should submit letters of no more than 150 words (100 words less than our normal Mailbag limit in order to allow publication of as many responses as possible) to pneville@guardnet.com. Letters can also be faxed to 338-2828 or mailed to Mailbag/Sept. 11, P.O. Box 10188, Eugene, OR 97440-2188. The deadline for submissions is 5 p.m. on Sept. 9.
To be considered for publication, a letter must include the author's first and last name, home address and daytime phone number. (The address and phone number are for verification purposes only, and this information will not be published or released.) Letters are subject to editing for clarity, grammar and brevity. Because of the anticipated volume of responses, we will be unable to publish all submissions.
