Remembering the Emperor of Egyptian cinema, Ahmed Zaki.

By: Egypt Today staff CAIRO -- 18 November 2017: Late Egyptian actor Ahmed Zaki is remembered for his remarkable works on his 68th birthday on Saturday. Ahmed Zaki was born on in 1949 and graduated from The High Theater Institute in 1973. Following his graduation, Zaki participated in a number of theatrical performances such as "Hello, Shalaby," and "Al Qahera fi Alf Aaam" [Cairo in 1000 years] and he acted many roles in several films including "Walady" [My Son], 'Ayam El Sadat' (Days of Sadat', and 'Sawa'a El Hanem' (The Madam's Driver), only to name a few. Known with his impressive and convincing performance, Zaki acted his early major film roles in number of iconic Egyptian films such as "Shafiqa wi Metwaly" [Shafiqa and Metwaly], "El Omr Lahza" [Life is a moment] and "Eskenderiyah Leh," [Why Alexandria?!]. The renowned actor has introduced many of most valuable biographical works such as Egyptian President Gamal Abdel Nasser biography "Nasser 65" film, Egyptian President Anwar Al Sadat biography in "Ayam El Sadat" , and has depicted prominent Egyptian author Taha Hussein at "Al Ayam" [Days] series. Zaki'shis final work Iconic was prestigiously depicting Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez' biography in "Halim" that was released in 2005. In efforts to reflect values and identity of Egyptian society, Zaki has perfectly portrayed low and middle class roles such as the guard in "Ell Beh El Bawab" [The Gentle Guard]; he also played the role ofa simple photographer in "Edhak El Sora Tetlaa' Helwa" (Smile, the Picture will Come Out fine),and the role of the driver in "Sawaq El Hanem" [The Madame's Driver]. Six of his films are listed on the best 100 Egyptian films in history based on a selection by a number of Egyptian critics.
