Relax with a soothing aromatherapy massage; Chill out ready to face the Christmas rush.

Byline: Melanie Harvey

SHOPPING, cooking, writing cards and worrying about doing all these things plays havoc with our bodies at this time of year.

The build up to Christmas is gruelling in many ways and it is vital that we all take a bit of time out to relax and give ourselves a break.

For some, that can mean a relaxing soak in the bath or an early night, but if you need that little bit of extra help, a massage is a great way to ease the festive stress.

I was treated to a fabulous clinical aromatherapy massage at a brilliant salon in Glasgow.

Townhouse Hair and Beauty is located in a lovely conversion in Royal Crescent, Sauchiehall Street.

This place has a classy feel, without being formal or over priced, and I could feel my Christmas worries melting away the minute I walked in.

The treatment room is bright and spacious and, with the winter sun sneaking in through the blinds, I relaxed on to the treatment table.

Salon director Liana Najafian was keen to find out any particular aches and strains I was suffering from and blended the perfect balance of oils to try to help. She then set to work kneading the knots from my aching shoulders and legs that were suffering after a few trips to the gym for a new exercise regime.

Liana was brilliant and listened to exactly where needed her attention.

Afterwards, she dimmed the lights and left me to relax before I headed out once more into the madness.

My shoulders were more relaxed and my aching legs felt a lot lighter as I left.

Townhouse Hair and Beauty offers a range of treatments, from massage to reiki and hopi ear candling.

They also provide the regular treatments we will all be looking for during the party season - such as waxing, eyebrow shaping and tinting, tanning and nails.

There are also two facials on offer, the bespoke at pounds 45 and the express at pounds 28, if you are in a bit of a hurry.

But I know what is on my Christmas list - a return trip in January for a relaxing massage to recover from December.
