Reigning on their parade.

Byline: TOM RYAN

AN Irish town will drown the shamrock in style to celebrate St Patrick's Day - four days ahead of the rest of the world.

The St Patrick's Day parade in Thurles, Co Tipperary, will be held on March 13 and will feature seven bands, 40 entries and an open-air ceili with the Sean Normand Ceili Band.

An exhibition of French crafts and products will feature 20 stallholders from France.

Tom Gleeson, parade secretary and local post office official, said: "If we waited until March 17 to hold our parade not as many bands would be available and we would clash with other parades around the county."
